Transparencies

The series, “Transparencies,” features double images, often created by painting over found images with oil paint then photographing them through backlighting and using this as a basis for a painting that takes on unconscious, often foreboding or religious meanings. These works draw heavily on surrealism, as well as on religious iconography found in Catholicism, both in baroque painting as well as in more popular forms of religious devotion.
