VIDEO: Success: What is it? What does it mean for an artist?

Years ago, when I was living in Berlin, I was very adept at networking. I also organized a lot of exhibitions myself. Both of these gave me a lot of visibility, and pretty soon I was able to show my work a lot. But something was missing. The kind of success I was hoping for eluded me. Part of this was because I hadn't done enough work truly knowing myself and thereby defining exactly what I had to say as an artist and why. This lecture will explore this internal work and a more philosophical approach to what it means to be a "successful" artist.

Daniel Kingery is an artist, writer and filmmaker living and working in New York. His work explores notions of the self: What makes us who we are?
